The tradition
Felt is used for making yurts and carpets (halakis and shirdaks) which cover the floor and the walls of the yurt. It's also used for making lots of traditional products like hats and slippers.

The shirdak
This is a carpet made of different pieces of felt. Traditionally this carpet is made by a mother as a present for her daughter when she gets married. Each stitch symbolises a happy day for the married couple.
